Pickleball

Over 60 hours of pickleball every week across both JCC locations. As a member, you get access to Open Play and court bookings, with games matched to your skill level. Lessons are open to everyone, so whether you're picking up a paddle for the first time or refining your game, there's a way in. The friendships that form on the court are a big part of what makes our pickleball community one of the most active at the JCC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your pickleball questions, answered

We shaped our pickleball program by researching best practices, consulting other facilities and JCCs across North America, and listening to our members. The goal is to balance pickleball with everything else happening at the JCC. The court fee is in line with other facilities in the GTA and helps cover facility upkeep, so the courts stay in great shape for everyone who plays. Below, you'll find answers to common questions about Open Play and booking a court.

Open play

At PJCC, open play follows a time-based rotation system where participants spend 15 minutes on the court and 15 minutes off.

At the SRC, open play uses a score-based system, rotating players when a game reaches 11 points.

We offer three skill levels: Advanced, Intermediate, and Novice. You can find detailed descriptions of each level by visiting our website and checking the Pickleball Skill Level Evaluation.

Absolutely! We encourage new players to join our monthly workshop or sign up for a session of lessons with one of our pros before joining the novice play sessions. For more information, please contact [email protected].

You should bring your own racquet and balls to the session. However, we do have a limited number of extra paddles and balls available if needed.

You are limited to one session per day per format (1 open play and 1 rental.)

You are required to play at your current skill level until you are re-evaluated and meet the criteria for the next level.

No, all participants must book their open play session through the JCC Toronto app before attending.

We welcome your feedback. Please send your feedback to [email protected].

How to book a court

One person from your group will book your court three days in advance (at 7:30 am), as you do with all Pickleball - JCC activities, by visiting our website or JCC App. Navigate to the court reservation section, choose your desired date and time, and follow the prompts to secure your court.

Payment must be made using the method of payment we have on your member profile. You will be charged at the time of booking and will receive a receipt.

As only one person is responsible for reserving and paying for the court time, the transfer of payment between the group will be the responsibility of the group to handle. E-transfers may be simplest for players, but we leave those decisions up to you.

We encourage members to arrive at least five minutes prior to their designated open play time to ensure a prompt start to the matches. Please note that if a member arrives more than five minutes late, their spot will be offered to another member on the waitlist.

We do not maintain a waiting list for booked court times. However, we recommend checking our booking system regularly, as new slots may become available.

Yes, you can cancel your booking by contacting [email protected].

Please note that cancellations made less than 24 hours before your reserved time will be charged the full court fee.

Pickleball court bookings are reserved for our valued JCC members only.

As with all our programming and schedules, we continuously look to adjust and improve. Please continue to review our website for the most up-to-date schedules.
